Lotus Lily Pond - Commission
The first layer is the foundation of this 12" TableTop Commission piece. A delicate thin layer of sparkling pearly white sandy bottom, with Black pebbles, Pink Starfish, Sea Shells, organic material, Turquoise, Peridot and Amethyst stones. The resin will cure for 24 hours before the next layer and placement of Koi fish. I want a little separation between the bottom and the fish so it will appear floating.
Custom Resin Starfish
Customer request of Pale Pink Starfish.
I set out with my molds to create these cuties, first the smallest are all pink and then I played with the larger one with a pink center and pearly white with Stardust glitter arms. The molds have a mat surface, so they aren't shiny, but once the clear coat of resin hits it, it will become glossy. Sometimes a mat finish is the desired effect and they are lovely that way, just as they are when they shine.
Custom KOI fish
The request was for 3 Pearly white Koi fish with accent touches of Pink on one fish, another with Orange and Yellow and the final one with Turquoise. The pearl white has additional sparkle with stardust glitter. With resin it is hard to capture details because the resin continues to move and cure for 5 or more hours after pouring. There is another process I am going to try that I haven't tried before, which would be painting inside the mold then pouring.... I'll try that tonight.
Painting on top of Resin
After pouring these Koi Fish I hand painted requested colors onto the cured resin. Once I coat them with a thin layer of resin or shellac they will become glossy. Just another optional way to get color or details onto cured resin.
Around the edges of the Table Top I've created a "Wreath" of color, texture and Bliss ~ Seashells, Pebbles, Pink Starfish, Peridot & Turquoise stones. I love how the Peridot stones look like moss!
My Commission calls for Lotus Flowers and when you look at lotus flowers there are a variety of blooms. Using the request of Bright Pink and Purple/lavender I poured these while I wait for my new Lotus molds as another option. I have mixed in Stardust glitter which will come alive once I coat this with a thin coat of Resin or Shellac. It may be a week or two until I get my new molds so I figured why not create a few options for my client while I wait.
The POND a work in progress.
After setting a larger starfish into the POND I also added crushed tinted mirrored glass around the edges that take on a look of a grainy chunky sand. Then I placed a thin layer of clear resin to set the additions. Today I will add the Koi Fish and another thin layer of clear resin.
The Larger starfish has a glittery effect once I placed a thin layer of Clear Resin. Next placement of the Selected 3 Koi fish and a portion of Sea Glass and another thin layer of Resin
